RESULTS OF ALUMNI SURVEY:
In July 2003 an alumni survey was sent to nearly 2000 alumni as part of action on the 2003-2006 Strategic Plan goal of strengthening alumni relations. We received close to 200 responses resulting in an estimated 10% response rate. By and large, alumni are very interested in continuing their relationship with HECUA. Similar to other surveys done in recent years (such as the Impact Evaluation), it is clear from the open-ended comments at the end of the survey that alumni continue to hold HECUA in very high esteem.

The survey results show, in particular, that HECUA should move forward on the following objectives:
Continue Connection With and Programming For Alumni.
- 55% of respondents said their last contact with HECUA was through the NewsLine or an Alumni Event
- 31% of respondents want to partner with HECUA on a task project or program
- 26% of respondents want to participate on an alumni advisory committee.
- 51% of respondents are interested in working with HECUA on Alumni Activities.
Tap Into Alumni for Recruitment and Marketing & Elicit Alumni Ideas and Resources to Improve Programs.
- 68% of respondents are interested in being available for alumni questions, information gathering or student projects
- 46% are interested in mentoring a HECUA student or alumni
- 34% are interested in participating in a program-related task force or advisory group
- 30% are interested in being a field speaker.
Offer Alumni Opportunities to Invest In and Support HECUA.
- Nearly 100% of respondents are willing to make a financial contribution to HECUA.
- 80% of respondents are interested in HECUA sponsored alumni travel programs with high interest in locations where we already operate programs such as Ecuador or Guatemala (66% of respondents selected these options).
Overall, the alumni survey affirms HECUA'S commitment to strengthening alumni relations and provides valuable input into HECUA'S strategic planning and action steps in this area. For an executive summary or detailed report contact Judy Sharken Simon – [email protected].
