Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST)

Fall Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected], www.hecua.org).

Total Credits

The Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST) provides 16 credit hours. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Augustana credits and are included in GPA.

Core of Liberal Studies Credits

MUST has been approved to fulfill the following requirement:

3.3 Human Behavior and Social Institutions

Major Credits

Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in MUST. Majors that have participated in MUST include: Business Administration o Computer Science o English o Gender Studies o Journalism o Mass Communication o Government o Sociology

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, core of liberal studies and/or electives.

Campus Deadlines

Students planning to study off campus Fall semester must contact the Augustana Study Abroad Office by April 1 to apply for permission to enroll in MUST.

HECUA Deadline

Applications for MUST are due in the HECUA office by April 15. Early application is encouraged, as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.

City Arts

Spring Semester

CITY ARTS has been approved to fulfill the following requirement:

1.2 Understanding the Self in Interpersonal Relations

Major Credits

Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in CITY ARTS.

Majors that have participated in CITY ARTS and received major credit include: English o Theater Other majors that have participated for elective credit include: Elementary Education o Psychology o Social Work o Spanish

NOTE: Culture & Society in Latin America (CASLA) Spring Semester program has been discontinued, replaced with Environment, Economy & Community in Latin America (EECLA) Spring Semester program.
NOTE: Community Internships in Latin America (CILA) is now being offered Fall Semester (was previously a Spring Semester program).

CILA: Intercultural Studies
EECLA: New progran; intended for students in social sciences, economics, environmental studies, and others
