Hasina urges German entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh

Leader of the Opposition and Awami league President Sheikh Hasina urged German investors and entrepreneurs to invest in small and medium industries in Bangladesh.

 

“Germany is an industrially developed country that can invest and extend its technical assistance for Bangladesh,” she said adding, “there is a huge scope for small and medium industries in Bangladesh.”


Hasina was addressing a banquet held at a castle in Frankfurt in Germany Sunday night arranged in her honour. Leading German industrialists, businessmen, bankers, economists and eminent personalities were present at the banquet, according to a press release issued here Monday.
She also urged Germany authorities to set up a technical training institute in Bangladesh that would help develop Bangladeshi human resources.


Hasina said German entrepreneurs could employ skilled manpower from Bangladesh that would help the Germans to cut down their production cost.


At the banquet, Hasina said the previous Awami League government in Bangladesh had attracted foreign investment into the country and adopted a liberal industrial policy in line with open market economy.


Earlier in the noon, Hasina visited German agro-based industry Erbacher where its owner briefed the Bangladeshi opposition leader about the company’s different sections.
German industrialists and enterpreneurs, according to the press release, expressed their interest to invest in Bangladesh during an exchange of opinion meeting with Hasina.


AL Presidium member Kazi Zafrullah MP, AL leaders Dr Hasan Mahmud, Sadeq Hossain Chowdhury, Shahed Reza, Mahbubul Huq Shakil, Nasrul Hamid Bipu and Shamsul Al Amin Kajal were present.
