Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST)

Fall Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected], www.hecua.org).

Total Credits

The Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST) provides 16 credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as St. Mary's credits and are included in GPA.

General Education Credits

HECUA program courses may fulfill specific general education requirements. Check with the Off-Campus Programs office for information and advice.

Major Credits

Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in MUST.

Majors that have participated in MUST and may have received major credit include:

  • Criminal Justice
  • English
  • Human Services
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Public Relations
  • Sociology
  • Spanish
  • Speech Communication

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, general education and/or electives.

Registration

To participate in MUST, students will be advised by the Off-Campus Programs office on how to register for the term away.

Campus Deadlines

Students planning to study off campus Fall semester must contact the St. Mary's Center for Global Education by March 1 to apply for permission to study off-campus.

HECUA Deadline

Applications for MUST are due in the HECUA office by April 15.

Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.

NOTE: Culture and Society in Latin America (CASLA) Spring Semester program has been discontinued, replaced with Environment, Economy & Community in Latin America (EECLA) Spring Semester program.

NOTE: Community Internships in Latin America (CILA) is now being offered Fall Semester (was previously a Spring Semester program).
