Check here on Wednesdays for a list of jobs that we think might interest our alumni. In the past, this list has existed as a weekly tweetstorm (we tweet @hecua_offcampus – follow us!) using the hashtag #hecuacareerboard. From now on we’ll also post an annotated list on our website. If you’re an employer and you’d like to submit a job, email Laney Ohmans at lohmans<@>hecua.org with a brief description of the position and why it would be a good fit for a HECUA student or alumni. If you’re a student and you’d like our help finding a job, email Laney with a brief description of what you’re looking for!
Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy is looking for a Communications Coordinator.
Climate Generation is a Minnesota-based organization that develops k-12 curriculum around climate change and supports young climate justice leaders. They are very cool. The position they’re hiring for is actually a hybrid Development/Communications position. Half of your time would be spent writing press releases, maintaining the website and social media presence, and updating the blog, and half would be spent developing sponsorships and communicating with donors. Salary range is $38,000 – $40,000, with benefits.
CTUL (Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha) is hiring an Organizer.
Long-time community partner and amazing force for justice CTUL is hiring an organizer for their “Defensores de Derechos” program. You would be organizing workers to claim the rights that they are guaranteed but too infrequently afforded. You need to be a fluent Spanish speaker, and you’d be spending most of your time outside of the office, speaking directly with workers in their homes, churches, and on their job sites. This job has a flexible schedule, which at times might include weekend work, early mornings, etc. Salary is $35,000/year, with a raise after one year of work.
Barebones Halloween Extravaganza is hiring a Production Manager.
Barebones is a massive, magical outdoor puppet performance that takes place each year in Hidden Falls Regional Park during the last two weeks of October. It is extremely neat, and changes each year in theme and execution. You’d work with artistic director, stage manager, site manager, and volunteer coordinator to coordinate fire artists, puppeteers, a choir and orchestra, lots of community volunteers, and the thousands of people who come to see each show. The Barebones team is looking for someone who has experience with outdoor festivals, and is invested in collaborative decision making and radical inclusion.
The Cedar Cultural Center is commissioning artists for their upcoming season.
The outline on the Cedar’s website is so clear and informative that we’re not going to offer much of a recap here. If you’re a local musician, and you want to create and perform 30+ minutes of brand new music, you should take a look at this opportunity.
C3 Twin Cities has a bunch of Americorps VISTA positions up on their site.
These positions are part of a sub co-hort addressing “holistic poverty reduction.” If you’re looking into a service year in the Twin Cities, this would be a good place to start!
That’s all we’ve got for this week. Stay tuned for more!
