Campus Membership Dates:

Founding member, 1971-Present

St. Catherine University was instrumental in establishing HECUA in 1971 and has provided leadership throughout the history of the consortium

2004 Randolph Avenue
Saint Paul, MN 55105

Since its foundation, St. Catherine University has sought to educate women to be courageous and transformational leaders in their communities. Grounded in the Catholic tradition of intellectual inquiry and social teaching, St. Catherine challenges and supports students of diverse backgrounds to be reflective thinkers and to search out and participate in efforts that advance social justice. As a founding member of HECUA, St. Catherine University has been a long and trusted partner in equipping students with the knowledge and skills to create just communities and societies at home and abroad.

Special services HECUA provides to the campus:
• HECUA has conducted custom, short-term programs for St. Catherine students with faculty from a variety of departments. Several of these programs were held at HECUA’s Ecuador site of activity and were offered as Global Search for Justice credit. HECUA has also conducted a seminar for graduate students in Library and Information Sciences at HECUA’s Norway site.
• HECUA has provided a faculty development workshop on “Experiential education as a liberating art: Teaching with the global search for justice and the community in mind.” Held on the St. Catherine campus, the workshop included faculty participants who teach interdisciplinary core courses around the theme of global search for justice.
• Professor Deep Shikha was a co-presenter for a HECUA workshop on experiential, integrated learning offered at the AAC&U conference on General Education and Assessment. Also, Professor of Economics Nasrin Jewell served as the lead faculty and interim program director for the MUST program.
