Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST)
Fall Semester

Total Credits
The Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST) provides 4 course credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Augsburg credits and are included in GPA.

General Education Credits
SUST has been pre-approved to fulfill the following Perspectives:
- The City
- Western Heritage 1
- Intercultural Awareness 2 or 3
Satisfactory completion of all SUST courses is required to meet the Perspectives.

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in SUST.
Majors that have participated in SUST and received major credit include:
o Economics
o History
o Political Science
o Scandinavian Studies
o Sociology
o Urban Studies

Other majors that have participated for elective and/or general education credit:
o Business
o Chemistry
o Computer Science
o Psychology
o Social Work
o Studio Art

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, general education and/or electives.

Registration
The Center for Global Education will register SUST participants for:
INS/SCA 372 Norwegian Language
INS/SCA 377 Scandinavia in the World
INS/SCA 393 Norwegian Art and Literature: Perspectives on Social Change
INS/SCA 394 Urbanization and Development in Scandinavia
INS/SCA 494 Independent Study/Research Campus

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus fall semester must contact the Augsburg Center for Global Education by March 1 to apply for permission to study off-campus.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for SUST are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
