Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST)
Fall Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
The Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST) provides 27 course credits. Credits and grades count towards graduation as general electives. However, they are not included in the GPA.

Distribution Requirements
Students who wish to apply some or all credits towards a distribution requirement must undertake a petition and approval process with the appropriate department/academic office.

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in SUST.
The following majors are a good fit with the SUST program:
Political Science o Sociology/Anthropology
Majors that have participated in SUST include:
American Studies- Computer Science- Economics -Environmental and Technology
Studies -Geology - History -Political Science -Psychology

Students who wish to apply some or all credits towards a major requirement must undertake a petition and approval process with the appropriate department/academic office. Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, distribution requirements and/or electives.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus fall semester must submit an OCS petition to the Carleton Off-Campus Studies Office by the third Thursday of spring term for permission to study off-campus fall semester. (No additional registration is required at Carleton.)

HECUA Deadline
Applications for SUST are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
