Community Internships in Latin America (CILA)
Fall Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected].)

Total Credits
Each program provides 16 credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Concordia credits and are included in GPA.

General Education Credits
Students who participate in a HECUA semester may use 12 of the 16 credits to meet General Education Goal Area Requirements in the following areas: aesthetic, civic, global, interpersonal, intellectual or integrative. They may use the remaining four credits for an internship or for elective credits or for elective credits in the major. (Students will request the credit distribution on the internship application form available in the Student Academic Advising Office.)

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in the Latin America programs.

Majors that have participated include:
o Education
o English

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, general education and/or electives.

Registration
To participate in CILA, students must register at the Concordia registrar’s office for:
- HEC 498 - HECUA Semester

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to enroll in CILA fall semester program must meet with the representative by February 15.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for CILA are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
