The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
Each semester program provides 16 semester credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as CSB/SJU credits and are included in GPA.

Core Curriculum Requirements
The programs may fulfill the following core requirements, to be determined in consultation with academic advising staff:
GPDC: SSU, Discussion, Writing, Global
CILA: SSU, Discussion, Global
EECLA: SSU, Discussion, Writing, Global

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in HECUA Latin America programs.

Majors that have participated and may have received major credit include:
GPDC: Economics o Elementary Education o English o Environmental Studies o
o Government o History o International Management o Liberal Studies
o Mathematics o Political Science o Psychology o Social Science o Spanish
o Theology

CILA: Peace Studies* o Social Work o Sociology o Spanish o Urban Studies

EECLA: New program intended for students in social sciences, economics, environmental studies, and others

*Peace Studies majors may use CILA credits toward their major. Discuss with your advisor how the internship and seminars may be approved for the Upper Division and internship requirements within the major, depending on your concentration.

Discuss with your advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, core curriculum and/or electives. Credit approval in the major must be approved through the department chair.

Registration
Students are automatically registered for off-campus study; check with the CSB/SJU Office of International Education with questions.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to enroll in EECLA should submit a completed application to the CSB/SJU International Education Office by October 15. Students planning to enroll in GPDC and CILA should submit a completed application to the CSB/SJU International Education Office by March 1.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for GPDC and CILA are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Applications for EECLA are due in the HECUA office by November 1. Early application is encouraged, as the programs may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
