Community Internships in Latin America (CILA)
Fall Semester


The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
Each program provides 4 course credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Hamline credits and are included in GPA.

The Hamline Plan
The Latin America programs may fulfill certain requirements in the Hamline Plan. Discuss with your faculty advisor, based on your choice of program and your Hamline Plan credit needs.

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in the Latin America programs.

Majors that have participated in the programs (may have received major credit) include:
CILA: International Studies o Sociology o Spanish


Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, Hamline Plan and/or electives.

Scholarships
Hamline students planning to study in Latin America may apply for the Student Aid for Latin American Studies (SALAS) Scholarship. For further information, contact Hamline’s International Programs Center, 651/523-2245.

Registration
The student need not register at Hamline for the HECUA term. HECUA submits registration on the student’s behalf to the Hamline registrar.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus fall semester must submit an application to the Hamline International Programs Center (IPC) by November 22. Students planning to study off campus spring semester must submit an application to the Hamline International Programs Center (IPC) by March 20.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for CILA are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
