Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST)
Fall Semester/Spring Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
The Metro Urban Studies Term (MUST) provides 4 course credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Hamline credits and are included in GPA.

The Hamline Plan
MUST has been approved to fulfill the following requirements:

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in MUST.

Urban Studies majors may receive major elective credit for the two MUST seminar courses.

Women’s Studies majors (through ACTC) may use the two internship course credits toward the major. Discuss criteria for the internship with your major advisor to ensure that it is appropriately related to women’s studies.

Other majors that have participated in MUST and may have received major credit include:

  • Communications
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Women’s Studies

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, Hamline Plan, and/or electives.

Registration
The student need not register at Hamline for the HECUA term. HECUA submits registration on the student’s behalf to the Hamline registrar.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus fall semester must submit an application to the Hamline International Programs Center (IPC) by November 22; for spring semester 2002 by February 25th.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for MUST are due in the HECUA office for fall semester by April 15; for spring semester by December 1. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
