Community Internships in Latin America (CILA)
Fall Semester


The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
Each semester program provides 16 semester credits. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as St. Catherine credits and are included in GPA.

Core Curriculum
CILA can fulfill the Global Search for Justice core requirement. Obtain guidelines from the CSC Global Studies office. Intention to fulfill the requirement must be indicated when you register for the HECUA program at CSC. You must meet with the HECUA campus representative before applying for the HECUA program to discuss additional post-program work required in order to fulfill the Global Search for Justice requirement.

CILA may fulfill the Social Science; reviewed case-by-case, based on the student’s reading, focus of projects, etc.

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in HECUA Latin America programs.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus in CILA fall semester must submit application to the CSC Office of Global Studies by March 1st.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for CILA are due in the HECUA office by March 15. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
