City Arts
Spring Semester
The following information is intended to assist
students and advisors in the distribution
and approval of credits for participation
in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions

Total Credits
The City Arts program provides 16 course credits.
Courses and credits appear on the transcript
as Macalester credits and are included in
GPA.
General Distribution Requirement
As part of the Macalester Study Away proposal
process, you will be required to work with
your faculty advisor and the chair of your
department on the use of CITY ARTS credits
toward your major and toward general distribution
requirements, to provide a clear indication
of how the credits will work for you upon
return to campus. (Final decision on approval
for general distribution requirements comes
from the Macalester registrar.)
Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to
participate in CITY ARTS.

and may have been able to apply a portion
of the credit to their majors include:

Registration
All Macalester students completing the study
away proposal process through the Macalester
International Center will automatically be
registered for study away. (No additional
registration procedure required.)
Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus spring
semester must submit a formal proposal to
the Macalester International Center by October
6.
HECUA Deadline
Applications for CITY ARTS are due in the
HECUA office by December 1.
Early application is encouraged as the program
may fill before the deadline. Applications
are reviewed as they are received. Late applications
are considered on a space available basis.
