Fall Semester
The following information is intended to assist
students and advisors in the distribution
and approval of credits for participation
in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions

Total Credits
Each HECUA program provides 16 semester credits.
Courses and credits appear on the transcript
as University of Minnesota residence credits
and are included in GPA.
Liberal Education Requirements
HECUA programs have been approved to fulfill
these liberal education requirements:
CILA
Community Participation for Social Chg. Social
Sciences Citizen./Public Ethics
Practicum
Internship May count, depending on area/topic
Students will complete an "Academic Planning
for Study Abroad" form in consultation
with their major advisor before departure.
The completed form allows the student to be
registered for courses and financial aid/STARS
arrangements to be made.
Students are registered for a foreign study
block of credit (FOST 3110, 16 credits) before
departure. Upon completion of the program,
a cancel/add process will change the foreign
study block registration to U of M courses.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to enroll in CILA must contact
the University of Minnesota's Learning Abroad
Center by March 1. Early application is encouraged,
as the programs may fill before the deadline.
Applications are reviewed as they are received.
Late applications are considered on a space
available basis.
HECUA Deadline
Applications are to be submitted to Global
Campus, which in turn will send them on to
the HECUA office by March 15.
