Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST)
Fall Semester

The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
The Scandinavian Urban Studies Term (SUST) provides 16 semester credits. Courses and credits appear on the fall semester transcript as University of Minnesota residence credits and are included in GPA.

Liberal Education Requirements
SUST has been approved to fulfill the following liberal education requirements:

Urbanization/Devt. in Scandinavia Social Sciences International Persp.
Scandinavia in the World Social Sciences International Persp.
Scand. Arts & Literature; Persp. on Chg. Arts & Humanit. International Persp.

Major Credits and Registration
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in SUST.

Students will complete an "Academic Planning for Study Abroad" form in consultation with their major advisor before departure. The completed form allows the student to be registered for courses and financial aid/STARS arrangements to be made.

Students are registered for a foreign study block of credit (FOST 3110, 16 credits) before departure. Upon completion of the program, a cancel/add process will change the foreign study block registration to U of M courses.

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to enroll in SUST must contact the University of Minnesota Global Campus by March 1. Early application is encouraged as the program may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis. Call Tina Cassler, Global Campus, 612/626-9373, to check about late application.

HECUA Deadline
Application for SUST is to be submitted to Global Campus, which in turn will send it to the HECUA office by the March 15 HECUA deadline.
