Community Internships in Latin America (CILA)
Fall Semester


The following information is intended to assist students and advisors in the distribution and approval of credits for participation in HECUA programs. Contact HECUA Admissions with any questions (651/646-8832, 800/554-1089, [email protected]).

Total Credits
Each program provides 16 semester hours. Courses and credits appear on the transcript as Viterbo credits and are included in GPA.

Core Curriculum Credits
The programs fulfill the following requirements:
CILA: o Foreign Language o Social Science o Liberal Studies elective

Major Credits
Students from all majors are encouraged to participate in the Latin America programs.

Students may receive major or minor credit for the programs in the following departments:
CILA: o Spanish

Discuss with your faculty advisor specific credit distribution in relation to your degree program and credits you need for the major, general education and/or electives.

Registration
To participate in CILA, students must register at Viterbo for:
GLST 200 Off-Campus Study (Sophomores)
GLST 400 Off-Campus Study (Juniors and Seniors)

Campus Deadlines
Students planning to study off campus must contact Viterbo’s Office for Global Education by February 1 to apply for permission to study off-campus the following academic year.

HECUA Deadline
Applications for CILA are due in the HECUA office by March 15.

Early application is encouraged, as the programs may fill before the deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received. Late applications are considered on a space available basis.
