Confidential Academic Reference

Student applications to HECUA programs are complete only with an academic reference. The online confidential academic reference must be completed by a college/university instructor or faculty member. The instructor should be able to comment on the student’s ability to work and learn within a group, and on the student's abilities and motivation.

To the faculty member:
Please complete and submit this one-page online form. The process may take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the web form cannot be saved partway through the process; you must complete it at one sitting. After you've submitted it you will receive an email confirmation of receipt. HECUA staff may contact you to verify a recommendation's authenticity.

A.) Relationship to HECUA program applicant
B.) The HECUA learning community

The success of a HECUA program relies on what happens within a small learning community. Your reference will be most helpful if it speaks to the student’s experience and preparedness for working on challenging issues in a group setting. There are no right or wrong answers, and the prompts aren't meant to be mutually exclusive. In other words, references could mark "True" to both statements about a student excelling in group and independent learning.
