Bell Museum of Natural History
The mission of the Bell Museum is to strengthen the connection between people and the natural world. The Bell Museum achieves this mission through traditional teaching and innovative, interdisciplinary programs that combine the arts with science. The Museum has a special interest in nature in the city.

Central High School / Central Touring Theatre
Interns at Central High School work in the black box theater with teacher Jan Mandel. Interns assist with the creation and production of original performances by a diverse group of high school students. The performances address a broad range of social and political issues as seen through the eyes of the students. Interns have helped with teaching, publicity, and poetry slams among other projects.

Highpoint Center for Print Making

Highpoint is dedicated to advancing the art of printmaking. Its goals are to provide educational programs, community access, and collaborative publishing opportunities to engage the community and increase the appreciation and understanding of the printmaking arts. Interns assist with educational art programs for youth, adults, and community groups. These educational programs reach out to diverse constituencies, particularly groups that are currently underrepresented in the arts. Interns do not have to have prior printmaking experience. Interns of all experience levels have access to printmaking classes and materials as part of their work at Highpoint.

Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts

Interact Center’s mission is to create art and challenge society’s view of disability. Interact Center is a licensed day care provider, serving up to 80 actors and artists who have physical and/or mental and emotional disabilities. Interact has two main departments, visual art and performing arts. Previous interns have worked in the visual art department, but there are internship possibilities in the performing arts as well. Visual arts interns have worked both in the studios (directly with artists) and at Inside Out Gallery, the gallery dedicated to displaying and marketing Interact artists’ work.

Intermedia Arts

Intermedia Arts is a catalyst that builds understanding among people through art. Intermedia’s work directly addresses pressing social issues through a broad range of creative media including performance, film/video, visual art, and community involvement. Interns at Intermedia have worked on a variety of projects, including archiving, video production, mural work, community outreach, and artist-in-residence coordination.

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater

HOBT performs professional puppet and mask theatre for the entertainment and enrichment of audiences of all ages and cultures. HOBT is dedicated to creating a sense of community among performers and audiences and building a vital and healthy culture through art, festival, work, and play. Interns help with mainstage productions and help plan and implement the annual May Day festival.

Minnesota Center for Book Arts

The mission of Minnesota Center for Book Arts is to engage diverse artists and learners in finding creativity, expression, and inspiration through the book arts. Interns work in MCBA’s education and outreach programs, leading book art workshops for youth and adults. The workshops engage students in learning about papermaking, printing, bookbinding, as well as core curriculum areas (math, science, reading, etc). Interns need not have prior book art experience.

Minnesota Citizens for the Arts

MCA is a statewide, nonpartisan arts advocacy organization whose mission is to ensure opportunity for all people to have access to and involvement in the arts. MCA organizes the arts community and lobbies the MN State Legislature on issues pertaining to the nonprofit arts. Interns help plan and organize an annual arts advocacy day and work on raising awareness of arts-related activity at the legislature.

Patrick’s Cabaret

Patrick’s Cabaret serves and supports artists in their growth and development by encouraging them to take risks, try new things, and present works in progress. Patrick’s serves a diverse range of performing artists, from emerging to experienced, from teenagers through seniors. The Cabaret specifically reaches out to artists of color, queer-identified artists, and those with disabilities. Interns help plan and coordinate Cabaret performances and have opportunity to curate special shows (i.e. a high school cabaret, a display of visual art by artists with disabilities, etc).

Phillips Community Television

PCTV is a community-based media education center for young people ages 9 – 18. PCTV teaches that media production is not only an outlet for self-expression but a way of making a civic contribution to the community. PCTV is both an arts education organization and a social change organization. Interns help PCTV teach media production tools to young people with the goal of having the youth change their community by creatively using those tools.
