SAMPLING
OF PROJECTS:
Human Rights - The Foundation uses a "human rights
lens" in the grant making process. A fellowship
recipient may be able to help determine how an approach
is working and how the resulting grants are relevant
to the Foundation's mission. Recipients also could research
how human rights are defined or understood by constituents
and how the Foundation can further the understanding
of issues and support effective work in this area.
Organizational Effectiveness - Over the last
few years, the Foundation has made a concerted effort
to assist non-profits in becoming stronger and self-sustaining.
An evaluation of this effort is currently being conducted
and the fellowship recipient could assist the Foundation
in implementing lessons that are learned.
Shelter - The housing crisis in our urban and
rural communities has increased. A fellowship recipient
could focus on how the Foundation can increase support
to address the housing and shelter needs of communities.
Restorative Justice - This movement is gaining
momentum and offers opportunities for further learning.
A fellowship recipient could explore the possibilities
to develop the model further as well as to assess some
of the implications and what lessons have been learned.
Health - Serious health disparities exist for
communities of color. A fellowship recipient could research
this crisis and help the Foundation develop strategies
to consider.
