Environmental
Sustainability Program Going Strong -
Brown Bag Series a Success
- Over the course of the fall semester
the Environmental Sustainability program
co-sponsored a brown bag speaker series
in collaboration with the Institute for
Agriculture and Trade Policy.The series
exceeded expectations, bringing together
community activists, academics, and students.
- This series was possible with the help
of a grant from the MN Hummanities Commission
and included a range of speakers, from
nationally known authors to key players
in the Minnesota environmental movement.
This series provided an opportunity for
HECUA students and community members to
consider their role in the vibrant community
of environmental thinkers living among
us.
Community
Internships in Latin America - Spring
`05 Program Suspended Due to Low Enrollment
- Quickly developed to serve the students
originally interested in our Guatemala
site, spring enrollment did not meet our
goals. The last minute addition of this
program did not give HECUA or the campuses
sufficient lead time to recruit students.
- Martha Moscoso, Ecuador Program Director,
and Jacquelyn Geier, HECUA Director of
Programs, will evaluate ways to deepen
and extend the Ecuador site of activity,
one of the most popular HECUA international
sites.

Advancement of College Teaching and Learning:

Term students presented Using Community-Based
Research and Case Study to Deepen Students
Inquiry, and took participants through
a year in the life of Public Achievement.

books and learned how to integrate and
assess creative work as an essential part
of learning.
- Jacquelyn Geier served on the planning
committee for this conference, led the
final conference wrap-up session and introduced
