Concordia College

Campus Membership Dates: 
Concordia College became an affiliate member in 2014. The College has approved these domestic programs for its students: Art for Social Change, Environmental Sustainability, Inequality in America, and Writing for Social Change and these international programs: Community Internships in Latin America and Democracy and Social Change in Northern Ireland. Concordia students receive the HECUA member program fee of $12,100, are eligible for HECUA scholarships, and earn a full semester of Concordia academic credit for their HECUA program.

Mission

Concordia College is nationally recognized for its strong curriculum in the global liberal arts, including instruction in nine world languages and a significant number of students who study abroad. Concordia welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds who seek to understand what it means to live in a global society and are passionate about making a difference in their communities.

The College's mission in to "influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life." Concordia is one of 26 colleges and universities associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Special services HECUA provides to the campus:

  • Concordia College students are welcome to all HECUA programs in the United States, and programs abroad in Ecuador and Northern Ireland, and pay the Concordia college tuition for the semester long program.

Application Process

Planning for off campus study begins early in a Concordia student's academic career. The process requires students to start by setting learning goals and expectations in a conversation with the Office of Global Learning and their academic advisors.

All students studying away are required to participate in a campus program that prepares outgoing and returning students for transformative learning. In these Journey Programs, offered throughout the year, students discuss issues that range from financial aid and health and safety, to the complex dimensions of cultural identity and intercultural understanding.
