
Emily Seru has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit administration including: fundraising, capacity building, program development and oversight, volunteer and internship programming, and community outreach. Previous to joining HECUA in 2004, Emily worked primarily in development and community outreach with the Headwaters Foundation for Justice and Milkweed Editions. At HECUA she has overseen the Partners Internship Program and the Graduate Fellowship in Philanthropy & Human Rights, created and led the Central Corridor Internship Program, and currently manages the internships and community partnerships for HECUA's domestic programs including: Inequality in America, Environmental Sustainability, Art for Social Change, Writing for Social Change, and Agriculture and Justice. Emily leads the anti-racism efforts at HECUA and is working to increase access to internships for low-income students of color. She holds a BA in English from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and is pursuing a Masters in Experiential Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Emily has also served on the grants committee for the Headwaters Foundation for Justice and on the Boards of the Frogtown Neighborhood Association and the Minnesota Association for Experiential Education.
