Hossain, Program
Director, is Senior Lecturer in Anthropology, School
of Liberal Arts and Science at Independent University,
Bangladesh (IUB). Hossain is a native of Dhaka, Bangladesh
and holds a M.A. from Jahangirnagar University (Dhaka)
and a Ph.D. from the University of Bern, Switzerland
in Cultural Anthropology. He has extensive research
experience in health, socio-economic conditions and
survival strategies of rural Bangladeshis, flood management
and land use in Bangladesh. He has assisted with the
HECUA Bangladesh January Term since 2001.
