This
position provides primary coordination and promotion
of HECUA`s Graduate Fellowship in Philanthropy
and Human Rights. It is responsible for 1) supporting
the development of a strong relationship and
good communication with the Otto Bremer Foundation
and other Advisory Group members; 2) recruiting
qualified individuals to apply for the fellowship;
3) coordinating the application selection process;
and 4) completing a summary report of the fellowship
program - on the recruitment, selection, and
learning process. The position requires excellent
communication skills, attention to detail, and
interest in philanthropy.
TERMS: This is a 9-month academic year contract
position, renewable annually. Approximately
10 hours per week. Work hours are variable depending
on the program cycle. The position will pay
a stipend of $580 per month for 9 months ($5,220
for the work).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: B.A. degree, detail-oriented, strong
organizational skills and attention to detail,
excellent communication skills, familiar with
higher education.
Preferred: M.A. or currently seeking, grant-writing
experience, program development experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Worker/Office Assistant: A combination
of administrative support and database entry
as well as some intern-level projects contributing
to the next phase of HECUA`s growth. This
is a great opportunity to contribute to the
vital work of HECUA as provider of quality off-campus
study programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Program assistance: Assist in mailings and
communication, maintain internship files, help
to coordinate the logistics of seminars
- Administrative support: Photocopying, mailings,
and phones
- Recruitment: Assist with recruitment for summer
internship program and graduate fellowship at
fairs and information session around the state
of MN
- Computer support: Data entry, web updates,
etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Good written and verbal communication skills
o Accuracy and attention to detail
o High level of organizational skills
o Ability to work on multiple tasks independently
o Interest in off-campus/ internship programs
o Ability to travel (Preference: have own transportation)

HECUA is seeking an Executive Director to provide
leadership in a dynamic higher education consortium
providing programs for growing numbers of college
students, faculty, and community members interested
in issues of social justice. As a nonprofit
organization, HECUA has been providing academic
programs for member institutions for over thirty
years. HECUA seeks a highly creative educator
and organizational leader who works collaboratively
with a strongly committed staff to cultivate
and advance the organization's administrative
functions and academic programs. This is a year-round
position that includes some travel.
ABOUT HECUA
HECUA`s work revolves around the mission of
equipping students with commitment, skills,
and vision for social justice through off-campus
study programs in the U.S. and abroad. The vision
for growth includes new programs, expanded involvement
of faculty, and broadened collaborations with
community partners. All HECUA programs are designed
consistent with a model of teaching and learning
that is interdisciplinary and experiential,
integrating theoretical frameworks with skills
and practices that enable students to see how
social change happens and to develop their capacities
as agents of change.
HECUA
is a consortium of seventeen liberal arts colleges
and universities. HECUA programs are located
in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Established in 1971, HECUA is widely recognized
for its quality programs and its unique approach
to learning. HECUA offices are centrally located
on University Avenue in the Minneapolis/St.
Paul area of Minnesota.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Board interface, administration, and support.
2. Strategic leadership of the organization
and issues related to the organization`s philosophy
and mission.
3. External relations with leadership of member
colleges and universities, partnering organizations,
and other constituencies.
4. Management and supervision of leadership
team.
5. Financial stewardship of HECUA`s resources
to achieve strategic goals and organization
mission.
ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS
1. Ability to work collaboratively as leader
of a team, bring multiple players into the conversation,
and operate with a commitment to democratic
and social justice principles.
2. Strong in creative thinking and critical
reflection with ability to foster same in others.
3. Strong practical and theoretical knowledge
of all facets of the field of non-profit organizations
and general knowledge of administrative and
academic practices of higher education.
4. Excellence in problem solving, presentation,
communication, and organizational skills.
5. Ability to represent and interact effectively
with various and diverse constituencies.
6. Sensitive to diversity and ability to foster
a climate of respect.
This
position reports to the Board of Director and
works closely with supervisees - the Director
of Programs, Director of Operations, and other
leadership positions. Additional support from
an Assistant to the Director and Office Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ph.D. or equivalent.
2. Minimum six years of relevant academic and
administrative experience in education and program
development/management/supervision, including
budget management, organizational management,
and strategic planning. Experience with fund
development and grant writing preferred.
3. Experience in the field of higher education
with commitment to liberal arts education and
experiential/community-based learning. Higher
education teaching experience and experience
with international and/or off-campus education
preferred.
4. Familiarity with consortial/membership organizations.
Experience with nonprofit organizations preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand, develop,
and articulate a set of related programs and
services dealing with off-campus study, community
partnerships, faculty development, and organizations
focused on social justice.
6. Demonstrated experience with collaborative
management approaches.
TERMS
The position is year-round position. Anticipated
full time though may be structured with flexible
scheduling and less than 40 hours. Salary minimum
$65,000 USD per year, excellent benefits package,
and a stimulating environment. February start
date desired.
