In
partnership with the University of Oslo International
Summer School, HECUA has hired Timothy Szlachetko,
Ph.D. as the new program director of the Scandinavian
Studies Term. Szlachetko completed a M.A. in Political
Science and a Ph.D. in Comparative Welfare State Economics
at the University of Melbourne and has research and
work experience in three of the Scandinavian countries.
For the past several years, he has worked as a senior
social policy adviser to the Victorian Premier (the
State of Victoria in Australia) advising on education,
work force development and early childhood issues within
a national and international context. Szlachetko has
taught undergraduate courses in European Politics at
the University of Melbourne and has a strong background
in comparative European politics, as well as personal
experience with international exchange programs and
internships.
You
will learn from select university faculty as well as
government and community leaders and activists. Past
instructors include Einar Vannebo, Director of the University
of Oslo International Summer School and Jeanne Sanderson,
site director. Vannebo holds an advanced degree in Scandinavian
literature; Sanderson holds an advanced history degree
from the University of Oslo with specialization in Norwegian
economic history.
