Funding Partners
HECUA's funding partners believe that educating and acting for a more just and equitable world involves all of us. HECUA is grateful for their financial support.
Project grants from foundations and funding collaboratives make it possible for HECUA students to intern with community and nonprofit organizations and learn from individuals who are working for justice in their communities.
• The Otto Bremer Foundation funded the Partners Internship Program from 2000 to 2009; the Graduate Fellowship in Philanthropy and Human Rights from 2002 to 2008; and the planning of the Central Corridor Internship Program in 2009 and 2010.
• The Saint Paul Foundation and F.R. Bigelow Foundation funded the Central Corridor Internship Program in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
• Central Corridor Funders Collaborative/Catalyst Fund funded the Central Corridor Internship Program in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
• The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation funded the Central Corridor Internship Program in 2013.
Funding for professional development brings campus faculty and staff into local and global communities to better prepare students to understand and contribute to social justice and change. These institutions have contracted with HECUA to deliver professional development projects:
• University of St Thomas, 2007-2011, five faculty and staff development seminars
• Macalester College, 2005 and 2006, two Urban Faculty Seminars
• Viterbo University, 2008, a faculty development program in Ecuador
• Gustavus Adolphus College, 2002, a faculty seminar in Northern Ireland.
• McKnight Foundation, 2001-2002, faculty planning to develop an urban environmental program in the Twin Cities.
Individual donors support the HECUA scholarship fund, which is working to make social justice education within reach for all students with a passion for learning and action in the world.
