Final Reflections from Northern Ireland
As I finished my internship with the Verbal Arts Centre, I began to reflect on the power of storytelling. The opportunity to read and talk with nursing home residents in one Verbal program made me excited, but also nervous since I did not think I would be able to connect to the group. Nevertheless, the stories I listened to and told in that first session and the many sessions afterwards, as we laughed, talked, and sang, erased the vast gap in our experiences and backgrounds.
